Sporting Goods Policy

Intro

You can bring most sports equipment with you on your trip, though keep in mind that standard checked baggage fees apply based on cabin, travel region and total number of checked bags. Overweight baggage fees apply to bags that exceed 50 lbs and bags cannot exceed 115 linear in/292 cm (length + width + height). Items in excess of the baggage allowance will be subject to additional, overweight, and oversized baggage fees. Please refer to Calculate Baggage Estimate for additional details. All Sports Equipment must be packed in a durable protective container designed specifically for the equipment.

KiteboardsKiteboards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee
Kneeboards/WakeboardsKneeboard or wakeboards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee
ParachutesSport parachutes are accepted as carry-on baggage only, provided that none of the items are classified as a prohibited or restricted item (Example: pressurized oxygen cylinders).
Scuba EquipmentScuba equipment weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee
Shooting EquipmentNo more than 11 lbs. (5 kg) of ammunition, including case
SkateboardsSkateboards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee
Ski/SnowboardIf the combined weight of ski/snowboard bags and boot bag weighs over 50 lbs, the applicable excess weight fee will be charged
SurfboardsSurfboards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee
Vaulting PolesVaulting poles are not accepted as checked baggage or cargo on any flight operated by Delta or a Delta Connection Carrier.
Windsurfing BoardsWindsurfing boards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee

If the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
BicyclesIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm) or exceeds 100 lbs, the item will not be accepted
Boogie/Skim Boards If the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
Canoes/KayaksIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
Fishing EquipmentIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted

Fishing poles meeting the carry-on standard (22in x 14in x 9in) are allowed as carry-on baggage
Golf EquipmentIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
Hockey & Lacrosse EquipmentIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
JavelinsIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 120 linear inches (305 cm), the item will not be accepted
KiteboardsIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted

Boards over 115 linear inches (length + width + height) (292 cm) will not be accepted
Scuba EquipmentOne dive bag containing scuba equipment other than an empty dive tank is allowed as checked baggage. An empty dive tank is allowed. Tanks exceeding 100 lbs or 115 linear inches are not allowed.
Shooting EquipmentLocked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Be aware that the container the firearm was in when purchased may not adequately secure the firearm when it is transported in checked baggage.
SkateboardsIf the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted
Ski/SnowboardThe combined weight of both items (ski/snowboard bag and the boot bag) may not exceed the standard baggage allowance specific to the cabin or excess weight charges will apply.
SurfboardsDelta Connection carrier surfboard acceptance and charges may vary. Surfboards over 72 inches in length are not allowed on Delta Connection carrier flights.
Windsurfing BoardsDelta Connection carrier surfboard acceptance and charges may vary.

Due to size limitations, windsurfing equipment will not be accepted on Delta Connection carriers or MD-88 aircraft
